Cards

Over the last thirteen months, I stopped by my mother and fathers house every day on my way home from work.  I'd sit down to see how they were doing. After the usual small talk, my mother would ask "so are going to play cards?",  The kitchen table would be set, cards, scorepad and Chex Mix.  We'd play her favorite game 13 upsy. She'd always ask me to try her new cookies out.  Then a slice of pizza.  I'd stack the deck in her favor so she would always win.  She would say "God loves me".  My mother always told she loved my smile and that nothing bothered me.  Well mom, my smile may return some day, but losing you will never stop bothering me.

Miss you,

Love Gerry
