Obituary for Robert J. "Buzz" Barry

Bristol – Robert J. “ Buzz” Barry ,87, of Warren, died Tuesday July 10,2018 at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol.
Born in Bristol, a son of the late Edmund and Stella( Cyganowski) Barry.

Buzz excelled at baseball while attending Warren High School, where he graduated in 1948.

He continued playing baseball at Providence College, where he graduated in 1952.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Buzz retired with the US Customs Service in 1987,at which time he returned to Maine, where he spent many years fishing and hunting.

In Maine he was VP of the Sportsmens Alliance, he also taught gun safety for the State of Maine. His passions also included Listening to classical music, singing opera, cooking and poetry. He also sang and acted in plays in Maine.

He has lived in Bristol for the last 4 years, he had lived in Warren, however spent most of his life living in Maine.

He is survived by his Fiancee Madeline (Cookie) Ernest, Children Robert J. Barry (Paul Rogers), Robin Stone, Michael Barry (Noreen),Susan (Anthony),Lisa Barry,son in law David Gaydos. Grandchildren Christopher Stone,Lauren Barry, Ashley Barry, Liam Barry, Brandon McNeice, Justine McNeice, Gabriel Gaydos, Aiden Gaydos. His sister Bertha Lial. His daughter Paula Gaydos, son in law Jim Stone, and his brother James Barry all preceded him in death.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 14 2018 at 10:30am in South Burial Ground, Sowamset Avenue, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
