BAKER, Paul Gene, 78, Senior Chief USN Retired of Warren passed away peacefully with family at his side on Friday, March 23, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Agostinho) Baker for 47 years. Paul was born October 10, 1939 in Oakman, AL to the late Jesse Buel and Zona (Patterson) Baker.

Senior Chief Baker joined the Navy in 1959, proudly served 30 years of active duty and retired in 1989 from The Naval War College Newport RI. Paul continued his service as a civilian at The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, RI as a computer specialist, retiring in 2002.

Paul enjoyed traveling with his wife, working in his yard and garden, and was especially proud of his tomatoes that he eagerly shared. He enjoyed many trips with his wife in his motor home and was a member of Family Motor Coach Assoc. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and enjoyed college football as a fan of University of Alabama.

Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by many. Beside his wife, Paul is survived by seven children: John Hutchison, (Colleen), Cheryl Bowman, James Hutchison (Joseph), Kelly Denney (Don), Michael Baker (Danithza), James Baker (Cynthia) and Lisa Kittell; and five grandchildren: Jeffrey Bowman (Kathryn), Hilary Denney, Jodie Bowman (Kelly), Zachary Denney and Timothy Denney and two great grandchildren Aiden and Annalie Bowman; brother-in-law Arthur Agostinho (Carol) and sisters-in-law Roseanne Chee (David) and Linda Baker as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his brother Jerrell Baker, sister Betty Sue Baker and sisters-in-law Philomena Galuppo and Lucille (George) Harmon.

His funeral service will held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 10:00am in the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-7pm.
Gifts in his memory may be sent the Alzheimer's Association.
