Warren – John A. Rogers, 89, of Warren died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Silver Creek Manor in Bristol. He was the husband of Mary B. (Stockton) Rogers.

John was born in Warren a son of the late John Z. and Lillian (Peters) Rogers.

John was a US Army veteran serving as Corporal.

He was a maintenance and carpentry worker for the Brown University for over 33 years, before retiring.

A lifelong Warren resident, he was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Mr. Rogers enjoyed carpentry and he built bird houses and furniture, he also enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and boating.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children John A Rogers Jr. of Riverside, Steven M. Rogers of Warren, Mary Ella Francis of Bristol, BettyAnne Rogers of Warwick, Susan Rodrigues of Taunton, MA.
He was the brother of Lillian Laroche of Warren, Gertrude Leary of Nevada, Evelyn Viera of Pawtucket, Edith Perry of Warren, and Ethel Viveiros of Swansea.

John was the grandfather of 8 and the great grandfather of 8. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Lester J. Rogers, and the brother of the late Everett Rogers, the late Raymond Rogers, and the late Lester Rogers.

His funeral will be held Monday, March 19,2018 at 9:00am from the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Avenue, Warren. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St. ,# 306, Providence, RI ,02906.
